Saturday, September 5th, 7:30 p.m.
The High Holy Days begin not with Rosh Hashana, but with Selichot—our first step on the journey of reflection, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal.
Rabbi Hanan invites everyone—whether you've attended Selichot services for years or have never experienced one before—to explore the meaning behind this sacred tradition.
The Hebrew word selichot means "forgiveness." Why do we gather before the High Holy Days? What is the purpose of Selichot, how can it help prepare us for the Days of Awe (Yamim Noraim), and how do the melodies that accompany the liturgy play such an important role? Through thoughtful discussion and reflection, Rabbi Hanan will help us build a deeper understanding of this meaningful season.
We'll begin the evening with Havdalah and refreshments before our learning.
Following the program, Rabbi Hanan and Shai Sircovici, lead our Selichot service. If you joined us last year, you know it was an inspiring musical experience, weaving together Sephardi, Ashkenazi, Israeli, contemporary, and other beautiful traditions.
Whether you're seeking a deeper understanding of the High Holy Days or simply looking for a meaningful way to begin the season, we hope you'll join us.
