What is T’rumah?
T’rumah is an alternative to the traditional synagogue annual dues model. T’rumah allows members to join by making a voluntary financial commitment that expresses the value of our synagogue community in their lives.
Tifereth Israel’s Board has voted to retain and update the T’rumah financial model for the new fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026.

A T’rumah commitment is based on the following concepts:
- Generosity ~ give until it feels good!
- Appreciation of the ever-increasing costs of synagogue and facility operations.
- Appreciation for the services, programs, education and caring community of Tifereth Israel.
- Affordability for all members.
The recommended sustaining T’rumah contribution levels for fiscal year 2026-2027 are
- $4,200 for households with 2 adults.
- $2,100 for households with 1 adult.
If this level presents a financial burden, we urge you to join at a reduced amount or choose a convenient payment plan on a monthly or quarterly basis.
In recognition of the diverse financial situations of families and individuals, a minimum T’rumah level of $1,100 for households with 2 adults and $650 for individuals has been established.
The reality of running a Jewish institution today elevates security to a significant, ongoing expense not covered by T’rumah. Security isn’t a one-time upgrade. It includes armed security guards, surveillance cameras, alarm systems, controlled property access and staff training and emergency preparedness.
The Security Fees for 2026 – 2027
- $450 for households with 2 adults.
- $330 for households with 1 adult.
Some Important Facts to Know.
- Annual member support through T’rumah covers less than 20% of Tifereth Israel expenses!
- Security Fees cover less than 75% of security expenses.
- Our 48-year old building has its original roof that must be replaced.
- Our preschool playground requires safety repairs and renovations.
- We have a shortfall between our income and our expenses ~ a gap that can be closed only through the generosity of our members!
