Waiver & Code of Conduct
Below are the health, safety, participation and photo/video terms and conditions for Abraham Ratner Torah School of Tifereth Israel Synagogue.
These terms and conditions also apply to Torah School’s Gesher L’Torah program and to Torah School Madrichim. .
By selecting "YES" on the Torah School or Gesher L’Torah, or Madrichim Parent registration form and writing your name in the space provided, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms on behalf of your child.
1 - I understand the nature of this program
I have read the information provided and understand the activities involved. I believe they are appropriate for my child.
2 - My child is able to safely participate
To the best of my knowledge, my child is physically and mentally able to take part in the activities. If I have concerns, I will speak with staff before my child participates.
3 - I accept that some activities include risks
I understand that physical, recreational, or movement-based activities include inherent risks of injury. I accept these risks on behalf of my child.
4 - My child will follow all rules and instructions
I will ensure that my child understands and follows all safety rules, instructions from staff, and posted guidelines.
5 - Emergency Medical Care
If my child becomes ill or injured, I authorize the synagogue, its staff, volunteers, or other trained individuals on site to provide basic first aid (such as cleaning cuts or applying bandages), CPR, or other emergency assistance as needed.In the case of a serious medical emergency, I understand that the synagogue will call emergency services immediately and will make every effort to contact me as soon as possible. If I cannot be reached, I authorize a physician or medical professional selected by the synagogue or its staff to provide necessary treatment, including hospitalization, injections, anesthesia, or surgery. I understand that this form may be photocopied for use by medical caregivers, and that any medical costs are my responsibility. I hereby indemnify Tifereth Israel Synagogue for claims of any nature whatsoever resulting from any action taken above.
6 - Medical Conditions / Allergies
If my child has any allergies or other medical needs that may reasonably arise at Torah School/Gesher L’Torah, I understand it is my responsibility to report them in writing to the Torah School office () at the time of registration.
7 - Photo and Video Release
I understand that photos and videos of my child may be taken during Torah School/Gesher L’Torah. I authorize the synagogue to use these images in printed or digital materials, including social media and the website. By agreeing to this waiver, I acknowledge that the child’s other parent/guardian, if they exist, have also given their permission. If I do not want my child’s image used, I will send a written request to by the first day of Torah School/Gesher L’Torah.
8 - Personal Property
I understand that the synagogue is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to my child’s personal property brought to Torah School/Gesher L’Torah, including but not limited to clothing, bags, electronics, or other personal items.
9 - Code of Conduct
I will ensure my child acts with Derekh Eretz—respect and consideration for others—at all synagogue events and programs, including Torah School and Gesher L’Torah. My child will follow all laws and synagogue rules.
I understand that
- My child may not use or possess alcohol, cannabis, or any other substances.
- My child may not engage in vandalism or intentional damage to synagogue property.
I understand that if any staff member or volunteer determines that my child has violated these rules, my child may be sent home from Torah School/Gesher L’Torah immediately at my expense, and I, as parent/guardian, will be responsible for any costs or damages incurred. If this happens during an event that requires a participation fee, I will not receive a refund.
10 - Field Trips
I understand that these rules, waivers and procedures remain in effect during Torah School field trips and other Torah School events that may take place off site.
11 - Release of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, I release the synagogue, its staff, volunteers, and representatives from liability for injuries or damages involving my child during Torah School and Gesher L’Torah, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional harm.
