Transitional kindergarten
Gesher means “bridge” in Hebrew — a bridge into Kindergarten.
Designed specifically for children ages 4–5, Gesher is a play-based Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners. In a warm and supportive environment rooted in Jewish values and traditions, children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and develop a genuine love of learning.
Through meaningful classroom experiences, projects, and hands-on activities, students strengthen social connections, build relationships, and grow in independence. Our program supports the development of fine and gross motor skills, early academic readiness, and strong social-emotional foundations. Each child is supported as an individual, discovering their strengths and developing confidence in a nurturing and joyful school environment.
Gesher allows children the time and space they need to grow — preparing them not only for Kindergarten, but for a lifelong love of learning.
Curriculum
Our Gesher class follows a thoughtfully modified Kindergarten curriculum that parallels the local California school district’s Transitional Kindergarten standards while remaining developmentally appropriate for this age group. The curriculum emphasizes:
- Social-emotional development
- Cooperative play and relationship building
- Language and communication
- Early mathematics concepts
- Literacy and pre-reading skills
- Writing development
- Fine and gross motor development
The day is intentionally structured while still allowing plenty of time for exploration and play. Students practice classroom responsibility, independence, and collaboration — essential skills for a successful transition into Kindergarten.
Because of our small class sizes and individualized approach, teachers are able to thoughtfully guide each child’s growth while ensuring they are meeting the important developmental milestones that prepare them for Kindergarten success.

Many Transitional Kindergarten programs in the public school system follow the traditional school bell schedule or shorter instructional days.
